1/31/07 ~ This morning's newspaper, the Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN has an article entitled Gandhi's philosophy 'holds key to survival'. These are words spoken by Prime Minister Singh of India. He said that he does not believe the world can sustain the lifestyle of the affluent. Furthermore, he says, "We need a new paradigm that caters to everyone's need and can keep in check human greed". As a Christian these words of the Prime Minister suggest that we need to discover the thoughts of Jesus regarding material resources, self denial and unconditional love for one's enemy. The Church has been on the "Jesus as Saviour" bing for too long and needs to renew its relationship with the "words and ways of the Jesus of the Gospels". He is truly our Saviour; but not merely for eternity. We need to step aside from seeing what we can get out of Jesus to what we can realized when we truly walk with Jesus. Greed has a companion that also needs to be exorcised from the human psyche, namely arrogance. Often the failure to accept one's giving place in the human family {arrogance} leads to the exercise of greed.Created with ShoutPost
